League Over

The year is over. According to my calculations this was the end of the year point totals

Mark was able to make it throught the year with zero points.
Zach scored one point for a bassett creek win, and probably another for all the closest to pin competitons he threw in during the last tournament.
Kevin thinks he had three wins during the year, (no one know for sure) and probably a few closest to pin points during the end of year tournament.
Jake scored 9 points for league wins. I thought there were some points for dominating certain courses, but I didn't pay enough attention during our pre league meeting. I also won the end of the year tournament for a bunch of points also.

So

Mark = 0 points
Zach = 2 points
Kevin = 5 points
Jake = more than everyone else

It was a fun year! Hopefully i'll get my end of the year dinner soon. Until next year.

Week 6 Why would you throw out a perfectly good neck?

Week 5 ended with Kevin saying "we cant let Jake get any more confidence." Also the occasional "Damn it......nice birdie" during week 6 clearly didn't stop Jake from winning. Maybe Kevin should have worried more about Mark this week, because Mark played pretty well, beating kevin for the first week. Mark was dialed in on the front nine shooting a one under par 27. Zach had a tough week, He originally had intended to sit out this week because of a sore neck. I had planned to pick him up from the Light rail around 7:40, but he missed the train. Zach was determined to get on that train to make it to league night on time, so he followed that train on his bike for five miles until it went under the airport. Needless to say we got started a little late, about 8:30. So feeling responsible for the late start and deciding to risk greater neck injury Zach pressed on, but with a new neck friendly form.
The new form didn't do much for him, he managed two pars on the first eight holes, and on the 9th hole after a drive got away from him and hit some trees he said, "save a neck....knock down a tree" or something to that effect. With Mark surging, Zach changing forms, Kevin looking to buy new discs and Jake winning again, you should tune in next week, things are bound to get interesting.
PEACE

Round and round we go we go...

What was so great about living with friends in college? What is good about going to shows? What was so good about racquetball games and tennis matches? What is so good about road trips? What is so good about Bible studies, bike rides, watching movies, going to Maxwells, playing Halo, having some beers, freestyle rapping, and WHAT is so good about playing DISC GOLF? Well, the answer, at least to the last mentioned activity, is simple: Kevin, Mark, and Jake. And the overall answer is even better: Friends. Best Buddies. People to know you and to get to know. Other men to enjoy the best things in life with. It comes more naturally for girls to express their fondness of each other and get together "just to get together". But us men aren't as straight forward about relationships as woman are. So we do stuff together. And we have an F-ing good time doing it! I love my friends. And I don't even care that I got last place last night. I'd rather get last place every time with them then get first place every time by myself (sort of like when I won a second place ribbon in a 400 meter dash when it was just me and a chubby kid).
.
.
Jake still needs to e-mail me the pictures, but here's the damage:
.
Mark: 2 4 3 3 3 3 4 3 3=28 back nine: 3 4 2 3 3 4 3 4 4=30=58 +4
Jake:_3 3 3 2 3 3 3 2 3=25 back nine: 2 3 2 2 3 4 3 3 2=24=49 -5
Zach:_4 4 3 3 4 3 3 3 3=30 back nine: 3 4 3 4 4 4 3 2 2=29=59 +5
Kevin: 3 3 4 3 3 3 2 3 3=27 back nine: 3 2 4 2 2 4 4 3 3=27=54 0
.
.
Without a picture of the scorecard, I realize that this looks a bit ugly, but it is what it is. I think everyone played well all around. There was nothing over a bogey, as you can see, which should be a given for Rosland on a nice day. The fact that the worse score, mine, was one stroke higher than the first round of the year's BEST score, mine as well (and Jake's), means, I believe, that we are all getting better as the season is progressing.
.
After coming in 4th 4 weeks in a row, Mark moved into 3rd and I think that is a good sign, along with him starting out with the only birdie. I can feel Mark starting to get into a consistant groove and it's only a matter of time until him and I start gaining some league points and bring the competition a little closer once again.
.
As always there were some good laughs and some bad jokes, and also some good laughs at some bad jokes (that's usually Kevin laughing at his own jokes). Well, that's week 5. Stay tuned for the next update and this week's pictures.

This was Kevins drive (yellow disc) on hole #2 zach is going to find his drive. Look below to see where he found it.

I wonder what cubby would say about this form.
WOW! this is a great pic. If only he would have made it.

Week 4: Bryant Lake

... and it's Zach Lien in front, right out of the gate! Zach started this week with 5 birdies within the first 6 holes. It reminded me of how he was playing the first night of our disc golf road trip. Mark had the shot of the night with a nice +40' birdie putt (see pic below.) The weather ended up being pretty nice after a rainy day, the ground was dry so we didn't have to wipe our discs off at all. Zach had a great first round, but otherwise I feel like we all played pretty average, maybe the guy with 2 double bogies on the front nine was playing a bit below average. We didn't gather and look at the scores after the first 9 holes like we usually do, but Zach was conveniently aware of the scores and where he stood ;] So, after hole 12 we all looked at the scores. Zach had a tragedy on a gimme putt that flopped out, which brought Zach and Jake's scores both to 37. Zach then bogie'd hole 13 so he was trailing by 1 pt. Jake played pretty consistent for the rest of the round and Zach finished with two birdies, hole 17 and 18 (those are big holes!) and Jake birdie'd 17 and par'd 18 so the boys were tied again at the end of the round. Mark and I finished behind them by a few strokes. So it came down to sudden death elimination on hole 1. Zach and Jake basically had the exact same drives, off to the right of the basket onto a grassy hill. They both laid up, Zach's was a little short which made his putt harder. Unfortunately, he missed his putt and Jake made his for his 3rd victory point! I'm really excited to see Mrs. Climo's stats for this week since there were soo many birdie's and stuff, it should really shake-up the stats. It was a fun time, next week we're back at Rosland - you guys better look out!

Mark made this birdie putt, great shot Mark!

Zach's drive on hole 4, hit the post!

I don't know who this ugly ass is, I think his name is Mike.

Chilling.

Cool tree, don't tell me what to do.

Week 3 Bassett Creek

Week 3 consisted of "new rules", Kevin letting everyone play through, Mark hitting some big dude right in the elbow (swelbow) and me leaving a disc behind on every hole. Kevin and I started off neck and neck and then in dramatic fashion on hole 4 kevin threw a drive that landed right by the hole (see picture below) which caused him to slam his fists and say YES! Basically it scared us all off and no one ever was close from then on. He threw almost every drive about 40 feet farther than everyone else, it was pretty impressive. Zach was quoted saying "second week in a row i screwed it up on the second hole". Mark was able to keep score without knowing how he's doing in comparison with everyone else. (some people cant even do that when there not keeping score) I managed to curse more this week than any other previous week. I blame the Monster i had before we played. (It probably has nothing to do with the fact I was losing) Once again Zach supplied the treats, beef jerky and sunflower seeds, which we all regretted on hole 9, because we were all very thirsty.(I would have bought the treats if he had paid) During the last hole we all talked about how we look forward to Wednesdays and how we kinda wish we played more often. i wonder if it's so appealing because of the disc golf, or the night alone with the guys, or the competition. I don't really know but I love all of that. Until next week PEACE!

                                               Zach eating a pre round snack.

Kevins drive on hole #4 where he started to "pull away from the pack"
Marks is the blue one (he wanted his disc in the picture)
Kevin showing off his noodle arm on hole #9
I wonder what Ken Climo would say about this lie.
Snack time!

This is the guy Mark hit on hole #17, you cant see it but his elbow is the size of a grapefruit.

Acorn + Our League = Bill Cosby ( J-E-L-L-O, You put the pudding in the pudding pop!)

Today was our 2nd night of league, we played at Acorn in Roseville and it was brisk, overcast and tree-central. There were a couple of birdies, double and triple bogies and few decent putts. Below you can see Zach making a pretty good putt. Jake won tonight (again), which is great but let's keep in mind that that only gives him 2 pts., so look out Jake! We had to look for Jake's sidewinder and Zach's destroyer for quite a while on separate holes, Mark's star SL went into the edge of the water and he got his shoes muddy getting it.(Mark have you cleaned your shoes since?) On hole 18, I threw my new groove and hit a tree, then couldn't find it for like 10 mins. until some guy pointed out that it was stuck on top of a tree. With all of this, it was still a lot of fun (thanks to Zach bringing those ranch flavored sunflower seeds), I love being outdoors with my friends and playing disc golf.

Zach making his putt. No wraith this time ;)

Jake enjoying some sunflower seeds and probably talking with some sort of voice that sounds like this, "eeeerrr, gimme all your money"

Final scorecard, Jake wins again.
